INSPIRING LIVES THROUGH COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Founded by Sis. Richelle Bailey, "Passing The Baton" is a Community Interest Company (CIC) committed to empowering, inspiring and transforming lives in both local and global communities. Its core mission is to tackle issues affecting women, men and children in underserved areas, bridging gaps, creating opportunities, and fostering sustainable change through bespoke programmes. With a focus on addressing inequalities, promoting access to resources and inspiring long-term transformation, "Passing The Baton" is making a significant impact.
VISION FOR GHANA
Sis. Richelle's heart for global outreach began in 1990 when she received divine inspiration to support the education and well-being of young girls in Ghana. The vision formed in 2002 during a business fair in Harrogate, where she connected with key organisations, leading to her first mission trip in 2021.
During this visit, Richelle spoke to over 100 girls and engaged with community leaders and pastors’ wives, offering mentorship and sponsorship to two teenage girls for their education. Richelle’s team began to conduct educational seminars, hygiene and health training, and shipped vital supplies to underserved communities.
MAKING AN IMPACT
In November 2021 Richelle launched a donation campaign, collecting hygiene products, clothing and other essentials from donors, including Wm Morrison Supermarkets Ltd., Hope House Charity and the Women’s Institute. By early 2022, the first shipment of supplies was sent to Ghana, followed by other shipments that year.
In July 2023, "Passing The Baton" was established as a formal organisation, with Richelle as CEO. Since then it has partnered with the Ghana Education Service, Youth Employment Service and local NGOs, to distribute supplies and expand its outreach.
